Celebrate the Holidays at the Francestown Old Meeting House with a free concert on Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m. Steel-string guitar virtuoso Harvey Reid and New Hampshire-born fiddler, singer, songwriter Joyce Andersen are returning in a joint performance with the popular, local ConVal Select Choir. 

Harvey and Joyce are gifted instrumentalists, versatile singers, prolific songwriters, and are comfortable in a wide diversity of styles – old-time, Celtic, rock, spiritual, folk, pop, swingroot, bluegrass and Americana music. They take turns on lead and harmony vocals to showcase a large and interesting repertoire, and have brought audiences to their feet at folk and bluegrass festivals, clubs, coffeehouses and concert halls across the US and in Europe. They have a long and beloved history in the Monadnock region, and for years Harvey’s solo holiday performances at The Folkway in Peterborough were a staple of the season.

The ConVal Select Choir consists of passionate music students who rehearse after school once a week under the direction of Brian Moore. This honors choir is made up of auditioned students who perform a college preparatory choral repertoire that spans diverse time periods and styles. Students in this choir have been awarded a gold medal at the Great East Festival. In addition to regular department concerts at ConVal, these singers advocate for music in our community by participating in live theatre performance, holiday caroling, All-State Choirs, other music festivals, and additional community performances. Director and conductor Brian Moore spent 17years teaching music and chorus in the Merrimack School District and has been the choral director at ConVal since 2019. The singers will be accompanied by pianist Mary Ann Fleming, organist/ choir director at the Union Congregational Church in Peterborough. 

Join us at the Francestown Old Meeting House on Sunday, December 10 at 4:00 p.m., and treat yourself with traditional Christmas music, beloved songs of the season, Christmas carols, and future family favorites. The performance is free. Masks are recommended but optional. Donations to the Old Meeting House are welcomed.
